It’s not often the opportunity arises to view, photograph and video young wild hedgehogs.
They are not babies for too long. This particular youngster is only a few weeks old and one of three new born. Mum is leaving them for long periods so that her off-spring become quickly more independent.
I found it quite amusing as they spoke to each in load grunts. Mum would direct the youngsters by barking out her orders in that same loud grunting fashion.
It will not be long before these young hedgehogs are totally independent and leave the relative safety of their nest.
There will be a video coming soon, showing mum with the three youngsters. During this video, I will explain some less well known facts about the hedgehog and how they survive in the wild.
